Research

Our research utilizes a system genetics approach to understand how we get from genotype to phenotype. How do genetic and environmental factors interact and what are the epigenetic mechanisms by which environmental factors influence phenotypes? This question underlies our research projects that span evolutionary biology, behavioural ecology, epigenetics and genetics, and disease research. We use a combination of experimental and molecular techniques in mammalian and invertebrate models such as methylation profiling, CRISPR gene editing, genome sequencing, and expression and histological analyses.

Teaching

I teach Evolutionary Biology, Behavioural Ecology and Experimental Design across our Biology, Zoology, Neuroscience and Biomedical degree programmes, and run a field course in Africa.
